All Hail the Emperor

I’m a sucker for Roman history. I find the way that they built a massive civilization (and subsequently lost it) a fascinating study for many aspects of business. So it was no surprise that a product called “The Empire Building Kit”, which promised to teach me ways to create my own empire, would catch my eye.
I didn’t stumble across it by accident. I am a subscriber to Chris Guillebeau’s Art of Non-Conformity blog and lots of his ideas resonate with me. (I’m nodding my head all the time when I read his stuff.) So I watched his pilot launch of the Empire Building Kit with great interest. I took the plunge with it when he offered it as standard offering in his product suite.
Now I have to be thoughtful where I invest my business development dollars, and I’m sure you do too. I’m a DIYer for much of what I do, and I appreciate resources that walk me through things step by step. But it seems like once I get one thing figured out, I have ten more questions. I need to have actionable strategies I can implement right away and to know where to go to get more info. So I spent a lot of time making sure that this product was a good fit for me. Then I clicked the Buy button and I haven’t regretted it.
Some of the key benefits of the Empire Building Kit that I’ve seen:
- An email a day for 365 days: This alone has been worth the price of admission for me. I get a short, meaty email each day on a concept related to building (or improving) my business. It starts out small, and moves into the advanced ideas/concepts/techniques over time. I have a special journal just for EBK that I write in after reading the daily email to generate ideas specifically for my business.
- Case studies: I like social proof (who doesn’t?). In fitness magazines, I’ll flip right to the before/after stories. I want to know how someone got from point A to point Z, and the lessons learned. The EBK case studies are exactly my type of poison. These folks share actual numbers around their business, along with where they started, where they are today, and what they are planning to do to grow a bigger empire. Another big plus is that there are case studies are across multiple industries, products, and audiences- wherever someone has been able to build what Chris calls a “lifestyle business”.
- Video interviews: On top of the case studies, you get a bunch of video interviews that Chris did with other successful emperors. (If you don’t like video, there are PDF transcripts as well.) There is something inspiring about being able to “see” someone’s passion for what they do.
- Extra stuff: As things are added to the kit, you get access to it too. It’s the gift that keeps on giving.
I’m not going to lie- The Empire Building Kit is an investment. But I bought it, I’m using it, and I think the information is worth its weight in gold. If you are looking for proven strategies and some daily “get your brain buzzing” type support to take your business to the next level, I'd recommend this a program you need to consider.
